The Building Department Inspector is not located at the Village Hall, if you need to get in touch with him you may do so by calling the Village Hall at 440-232-7800. His hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm. To schedule an inspection call 440-399-0850, 24 hours is required. The Mayor oversees the operation of the Building Department. The Building Inspector approves all permits for signs, fences and new homes (to name a few) and calculates related fees. The Department also collaborates with the Planning Commission and processes all paperwork for the Zoning Board of Appeals. The Building Department is responsible for implementing and enforcing our local zoning and building codes. It assists in establishing a minimum standard necessary to make all dwelling and structures safe, sanitary, free from fire and health hazards and fit for human habitation. To accomplish this goal, the Building Department conducts zoning inspections on commercial property and building and zoning inspections on residential property, records resident complaints, dispatches service personnel, records water breaks, generates property maintenance violations and performs a variety of other activities involving buildings and properties within the Village. The Department maintains files on every property in the Village with building plans, permits, inspection records and zoning inquiries contained therein.
